Steps to Respect

First grade has started a new anti-bullying curriculum called, Steps to Respect. The program gives students examples of ways to show respect and what the steps are to getting there. We use scenarios to act out different situations that first grade students may experience on a day to day basis. Then as a class, we discuss different solutions for each situation. The students are doing a great job coming up with solutions and realizing they have many choices.  We are also working on creating a better foundation to our friendships. Today we worked on getting to know our friends better during conversations and making sure we give them eye contact and listen as they speak. First grade is having a lot of fun learning with this program.
