Parents,
I know our spelling words are difficult this week but they are high frequency words that students use in their writing everyday. Please practice really hard on them at home and we are working on them at school, too. Below are some great activities to practice any weekly spelling words. Choose one this week for your child to do :)
Rainbow writing: Write your spelling words and then trace over the word 3 times. Each time you trace, use a different color.
Silly sentences: Write ten silly sentences using a spelling word in each sentence. Underline your spelling word.
Alpha order: Write your spelling words in alphabetical order.
Spelling story: Write a story using ALL of your spelling words. Be sure to underline your spelling words.
Spelling shapes: Make 10 shapes on your paper and write a spelling word in each shape.
Word pyramid: Write your spelling words in the shape of a pyramid. On each line, write 1 more letter until you have completed the pyramid.
Example:
w
w e
w e n
w e n t
Across and down: Write each word neatly across and down, sharing the beginning letter.
Example-
when
h
h
e
n
